Version 2 - Preparation and tools
Here are the tools that you need for your Mana makeup:

- Pale foundation: get a good foundation a few shades lighter than your skin color. If the “look” you are cosplaying needs a white face, do not use Halloween facepaint! Get theatrical makeup if you can, or use white powder over the palest foundation you can find.
- Powder: Use translucent or one shade lighter than your foundation. If you are doing white face, use white of course.
- Eyeshadow: Use the appropriate colour for your look. I used black.
- Black eyeliner pencil: This is THE makeup tool. In fact I have tried to do a whole “look” with it quite a few times. If the particular “look” needs blue eyeshadow and lips, you will need a blue pencil as well.
- Black liquid eyeliner (optional): Use it to make your eyeline show up better in photos.
- Lipstick (optional): Black and blue lipstick is hard to come by. If you see it, grab it!
- False Eyelashes: You need two pairs, one fat and long, one shorter and sparser
- Power puff and brush: For putting on the powder and dusting off the extra. The brush can also be used to clean up any eyeshadow that fall on your face.
- Eyeshadow brush: You can use eyeshadow wand instead if you like.
- Eyelash glue: get some that dries clear if you can.
- Pencil sharpener: Remember to sharpen your pencils before you use them.
- Tissue, cotton puffs, q-tips: For correcting mistakes.
Lay out your tools on a table where you can get good lighting on your face. If the lighting is not good, you may over- or under-apply your eyeshadow. Put on any part of the costume that need to go over your head, and then put on a big, old shirt or a towel over you costume. Also, wash your face and apply moisturizer if you need it before starting, and keep your hair out of your face. If you can, have a reference picture of the “look” you are cosplaying with you so that you can get the makeup right.
